Here's what we were working with - a narrow strip of patchy grass and bare dirt sitting between the pool and the house. Plenty of potential, but zero usable space. The homeowners had a pool as the centerpiece of the yard, but nowhere to actually sit, host, or cook. That's a pretty common situation, and it's exactly the kind of problem we solve.

We installed a custom Oberfields paver patio with a clean charcoal border running the perimeter. That border detail is one of those things that separates a patio that looks finished from one that just looks laid. It frames the whole surface and gives it a sharp, defined edge. The paver pattern itself adds texture and visual depth without being too busy.

On the left side of the patio, we built out a dedicated grill station using block construction - a solid, built-in setup that fits the space and actually functions. No flimsy cart shoved into a corner. This is something that gets used, and it's built to hold up through seasons of cookouts without budging. We also added a horizontal wood privacy screen along the house, which gives the space a more defined feel and keeps things tucked away from the neighbors.

What we ended up with is a backyard that finally matches the pool it surrounds. The clients moved furniture in and started using it right away - which is exactly what good hardscape work should allow. It's not just pretty, it's functional. Every element has a purpose.

Paver patios like this one are one of the best investments you can make in your property. They hold up well over time, they don't shift or crack the way poured concrete can, and they give you real usable square footage where there wasn't any before. If your backyard is underperforming, this is the kind of work that changes how you use your home.
