Pisa XL Retaining Wall Install With Full Landscape Overhaul

Sloped yards are frustrating. Mowing uneven ground is a hassle, erosion keeps undoing whatever you try to plant, and the whole space just feels like wasted potential. That's exactly what we were working with here - a backyard with a slope that made lawn maintenance harder than it needed to be, and a front yard that wasn't doing the curb appeal any favors.

We started with a 3D design so the homeowner could see exactly what we were building before we broke ground. That render-to-reality process matters a lot. It takes the guesswork out of a major investment and makes sure everyone is on the same page from day one. Once the plan was locked in, we got to work.

In the backyard, we installed a Pisa XL Smooth retaining wall with built-in steps that cut right through the center - making the upper and lower yard fully accessible without fighting the grade. We regraded the surrounding area to create flat, manageable lawn sections on both levels. Fresh planting beds were filled with shrubs and perennials, landscape lighting was added so the space works after dark, and metal railings were incorporated where needed. The result is a yard that's genuinely easier to maintain and a lot more enjoyable to spend time in.

Out front, the same Pisa XL block carries through for a cohesive look. The wall wraps the slope cleanly, holds the grade back from the street, and gives the brick ranch home a much stronger street presence. Paired with the metal railing on the front steps, the whole facade looks intentional and put-together.
